Additional Details
Route 22 is mostly a three lane highway in each direction with a posted speed of 55 mph. Access to and from local streets is facilitated through right turns and stop- or yield-controlled access points. Driveways to local businesses and other developments are located on both the left and right sides of the corridor in both directions. Due to substandard shoulder widths and short auxiliary lanes, crashes occur at side-street and ramp intersections along Route 22 at rates substantially higher than the state-wide average. Additionally, due to the lack of a direct interchange between Routes 202/206 and I-287, traffic originating and destined for these two corridors must use Route 22, causing congestion along the corridor in the project area.
The purpose of this project is to improve safety, reduce congestion and integrate multiple modes of travel on Route 22 within the project limits. For additional details view our flyer.
